In recent months, we’ve looked at the marketing efforts for the Ford F-150 Lightning, as well as GM’s Super Bowl investment in promoting its electric vehicle line. Both campaigns attempt to market EVs to the masses, as they’ve mostly been higher-end products so far.
Porsche, being true to its iconic, luxury brand, has taken a different approach. Watch this:
To support its upcoming Taycan 4 Cross Turismo launch, Porsche worked with award-winning filmmaker Nick Schrunk to produce the Drive2Extremes campaign, which shows off the vehicle’s ability to handle extreme weather conditions.
The video above sees the sports cross EV racing across two identical tracks – one in minus-30-degree cold in Finland, and another in 30-degree heat in the United Arab Emirates. Fast-flying drone footage captures the high-octane, um, high-voltage action.
The Taycan 4 Cross Turismo (FYI, there’s also a Taycan Sedan) claims a driving range of 215 miles with 469 horsepower, goes from zero to 60 in 4.8 seconds, comes with the off-road design package showcased in the video, and can charge in as little as 22.5 minutes with maximum DC charging power. One accessory option is a rear carrier for up to three bicycles, which pairs well with Porsche’s line of eBikes.
The starting price for the Taycan 4 Cross Turismo? $93,700. With nearly 3.5 million views of the video so far, we suspect that Porsche has plenty of interested customers.
